Find Exceptional In-Home Care in Greater Cleveland with Always Best Care Senior Services

For the past 20 years, Always Best Care Senior Services has been assisting seniors all over the United States and Canada with in-home care. They also help with assisted living community placements and offer free consultations for both options. Since 1996, Always Best Care has logged more than three million caregiver hours to over 25,000 senior clients. They take pride in the fact that they only employ the most highly-skilled and compassionate caregivers.

The Always Best Care caregivers provide a number of services including home helper services, companionship services, and personal care services. Some of the functions the caregiver provides include assisting with walking, providing appointment reminders, overseeing home deliveries, picking up prescriptions, shopping for groceries and supplies, providing Alzheimer’s and dementia care, arranging appointments, aiding with reading, maintaining the senior’s calendar, mobility assistance, eating assistance, providing respite care, checking food expirations, and much more.

Always Best Care also provides a number of other beneficial services to clients including:
  • Always Safe. This comprehensive fall prevention and detection program takes some out of the stress out of the senior’s and the caregiver’s life. Featuring Lifeline with AutoAlert, this service allows 24/7 fall detection and prevention so everyone can breathe easy.
  • Always on Call. Seniors and their families can now have access to a physician 24/7. This means no more late-night trips to the emergency room for non-emergency issues, and it also serves as an excellent means for prescription refills (for non-narcotics).
  • Always in Touch. This is a free telephone reassurance program for seniors, as well as for disabled adults who live alone. Because they often have limited contact with the outside world, a call is placed to them every day.
If you are interested in finding exceptional in-home care in the Greater Cleveland area or senior care in the Grafton area, you can call the local Always Best Care office at 440-791-7177 or email them at jbechtold@abc-seniors.com. Foods that Don’t Feed Your Brain

We’ve all heard that fish is “brain food” but did you know that there are foods that are actually bad for your brain? In fact, when you consume them, they can have a negative impact on things like your emotional health, your cognitive functioning, and even your memory. It may indeed be true that you are what you eat!

  • Cheese. It might be one of the tastiest foods on the planet, however, due to the fact that it high in saturated fat, it’s not good for your brain. Research has shown that high-fat foods are closely associated with poor memory. In addition to this, high fat foods cause injury to the hypothalamus and result in the body’s decreased ability to control body weight.
  • Doughnuts. They disguise themselves as sweet little circles of goodness, but in reality, eating too much fried food actually increases your risk of developing Alzheimer’s disease and other forms of dementia. It also increases the risk of raising the levels of “bad” cholesterol in your blood.
  • Fruit Juice. You wouldn’t think that opting for a glass of orange juice over soda would be a bad thing, and as it turns out, it’s about the same. A glass of fruit juice delivers a high amount of sugar to the body which affects the brain by reducing cognitive flexibility, and both short and long term memory.
  • White Rice. Foods with a high glycemic index have the ability to affect emotional health. Products such as white bread, potatoes, corn flakes, and white rice can bring about a dip in mental health and cause depression, especially in post-menopausal women.
  • Microwave Popcorn. Foods that contain trans fat such as microwave popcorn, frozen pizza, coffee creamer, stick margarine, frosting, etc., have high amounts of trans fat that remain solid at room temperature. Eating too much trans fat can result in decreased cognitive functioning, as well as memory loss.
